Rene’ Holt, DVM

Veterinarian/Owner

Dr. Rene’ Holt has always had a love for animals, especially the exotic ones! She grew up in rural Mississippi and was always surrounded by her family pets which included dogs, cats, horses, sugar gliders, and even a raccoon. There wasn’t a time where she didn’t want to grow up to be a veterinarian. She has always had a true compassion for all animals.

Dr. Holt received her Animal and Dairy Science degree from Mississippi State University and from there she continued at Mississippi State and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. She moved to the Huntsville area with her husband, Michael, after graduation and has been practicing in the area ever since. Dr. Holt has 4 children to whom she has passed down her love of animals to.

Dr. Holt has special interests in internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and exotic medicine. She currently has 3 cats (Nora, Jon Snow, & Declan), 3 dogs (Félicie, Lavender, & August), and a very spoiled Cockatoo named Harlow. In her spare time, Dr. Holt loves spending time with her family and planning parties.

Deanna Van Camp, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Van Camp grew up in central Illinois and she knew from a young age she wanted to be a vet. She grew up around a variety of animals and had the opportunity to travel all over the world. She was an active volunteer with her local zoo until going to college.

Dr. Van Camp received her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Evansville in Evansville Indiana. She went on to Purdue University where she earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. While at Purdue she had additional training with the Belize Wildlife and Referral Clinic, Fort Wayne Zoo, and Chicago Exotic Animal Hospital.

After graduation she moved to Tupelo, Mississippi with her husband and practiced at a small animal clinic for 4 years. In 2021 she moved to the Madison area and joined the Rocket City Veterinary Service team. She currently splits her time between the hospital and the mobile service.

In her spare time she is an avid gardener and quilter. She also enjoys time with her husband, son and many pets including 3 dogs, 3 cats, 2 crested geckos, fire skin, king snake, dart frogs, and 2 chameleons.

Madison Martin, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Madison Martin is excited to be practicing her passion in her hometown. Dr. Martin was raised right here in the Rocket City since she was 5 years old. Even from a young age it was clear that she had great compassion for animals of all kinds, including a brown recluse she once caught and tried to keep as a pet. Dr. Martin’s first official furry companion was a ferret named Pooky who she quickly realized needed more friends in the form of 2 more ferrets! Dr. Martin’s interest in animal care only grew with her as she spent more and more time out at the barn with her horse, Pogo.

Dr. Martin graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the College of Agriculture at Auburn University before continuing her education at Kansas State University where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. During her time in school, Dr. Martin became fascinated with exotic animal medicine as she oversaw the College’s Herpetarium and volunteering within the Exotic Animal Department. Since graduating, Dr. Martin has moved back to be closer with her family and put down her own roots.

Dr. Martin now has special interest in exotic companion animal medicine and surgery. She is currently the Exotic After-Hours Veterinarian for the Rocket City Veterinary team. In her free-time Dr. Martin prefers to read, play video games, and snuggle with her dog, Eowyn. Of all the animals she works with, rats are probably her absolute favorite patients!

Molly Shirley, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Shirley is a Kansas Native who grew up in the suburbs of Kansas City. For undergraduate, she attended the University of Kansas and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology with an emphasis in Genetics. After graduation, she decided to combine her love of animals and her interest in science and medicine by pursuing a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.

She attended the School of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2002. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Redding, California to complete an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery.

Dr. Shirley spent several years in Lexington, South Carolina prior to settling in Huntsville in 2010. She has a special interest in Internal Medicine, Dermatology and Radiology/ultrasound.

In her spare time she enjoys traveling, baking, reading, fitness and watching her son play baseball. She shares her home with her husband, son and their 4 dogs.

Elaine Schilling, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Schilling graduated from Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. She grew up in Huntsville and attended Mississippi State University to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Animal and Dairy Science.

Dr. Schilling enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, but has a special interest in dermatology and surgery. She enjoys working closely with clients to provide the best care for their pets.

In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband, Brian and their four children. She shares her home with a dog, Marko. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, crafting and traveling.

Moriah Lorge, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Originally from the Tennesee Valley, Dr. Moriah Lorge began her career in general practice and emergency and critical care locally. Dr. Lorge holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal and Dairy Sciences with a Minor in Biology from Mississippi State.  In 2021, she earned her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University.

Dr. Lorge has special interests in surgery, preventative  medicine, emergency and critical care, and mixed animal practice.

When not working, Dr. Lorge enjoys being outside, sports, hiking, and traveling. She hopes to eventually travel to all U.S. National Parks! Dr. Lorge has a large pet family, including 3 dogs, 2 cats, and 4 horses.

Maggie Elder, DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Maggie Elder has wanted to be a veterinarian since she was 5 years old and has never wavered. She grew up in Henderson, KY surrounded by many dogs and cats throughout the years. She rode horses with friends in her spare time and developed a love for them as well. Dr. Elder started volunteering and eventually working for her first veterinary clinic as a 16-year-old and fell in love with the industry.

Dr. Elder attended Midway University in Midway, KY where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Equine Sciences with a Chemistry minor. After graduation Dr. Elder went to Auburn University CVM where she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2022. Following graduation, she married her husband Zach and moved back here to her husband’s home town.
Dr. Elder has a special interest in archery and was apart of the USA All Star team, which took her to South Africa in 2013. Since then she competed in collegiate completions at Midway University and continues to shoot her bow in her spare time. Otherwise she spends most of her time with her husband Zach, mostly on the boat. She also enjoys spending time with their 3 pups (Volt, Mercy, & Beretta).

Cornelia

Clinic Troublemaker

Cornelia is our rescue from New Leash On Life that spends her day guarding the printer and destroying any papers that dare to disturb her peace! She is the drinker from the toilet and stealer of all food that has been ignored for 1 second. When she is not sleeping on the printer, she hangs out on her “cloud” in the doctor’s office or she keeping watch on all exotic patients that enter the hospital. Cornelia has a wonderful personality and constantly keeps us all on our toes!

Ronan

Clinic Bum

Ronan is a rescue case that became a permanent resident at Rocket City. Ronan spends his day being a bum and living his best life on the couch in the breakroom. He is the slayer of all drinks left on a surface as they must remain at floor level for him to achieve happiness. Ronan is a true fighter as he survived getting hit by a car which in turn caused him to have a severely fractured pelvis and dislocated hip. Ronan was taken in by Dr. Holt and we ended up saving his life with a blood transfusion, a feeding tube, surgery for his hip, tons of TLC. He now enjoys a life of leisure and being spoiled rotten.

James

Cutest Kinkajou

James is a 10 year old kinkajou that came into our care after being neglected almost to the point of death from dehydration and starvation. We worked tirelessly to save James’ life and thankfully we were successful. James now gets to live her life in luxury and is getting spoiled by 30 people that love her dearly! She never has to worry about being used again a breeding animal again and gets to experience so many exotic fruits that she never received before. She is the keeper of our hearts!

Louis

Service Dog to Bre

Louis, a goldendoodle, is five years old.  He loves his mom, Bre, and his human coworkers at Rocket City Veterinary Hospital.

Louis is a sweet boy who loves his job working as a cardiac alert and mobility service dog for Bre– he is simply the happiest dog ever! He loves to meet new people and travel to new places.

Louis has traveled all over the US! Their favorite place to travel is Walt Disney World. Louis has actually been 8 times.

Louis loves playing with a squeaky ball, running on the beach and digging in the sand, and catching snowballs out of the air when it snows.
Louis knows 30 different tricks. He has 3 canine good citizen titles and 3 trick dog titles through AKC.

Louis also participates in a dog sport called fast cat and has a top speed of 26mph.

Jenny Markle

Practice Manager

Jenny has been working in veterinary medicine since 2007. She has held a position in all aspects of a veterinary hospital, but most of her career has been as a veterinary assistant. She has an Associates in Applied Science Degree in Veterinary Technology from Jefferson State Community College. In 2018 she joined Rocket City Mobile Vet and has since moved into the position of Practice Manager.

Jenny grew up on a farm and has had a passion for animals her entire life. She currently has 4 animals of her own, all of whom are rescues – Sallie (a Cocker Spaniel) who has been her best friend and companion since 2012, Cricket (a Shih-Tzu), Walter (a Siamese), and Pocket (a Hedgehog).

She loves to read and has discovered a love of plants. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her family, which includes her husband, Michael, and her son, Lincoln.

Jessie Brown

Office Manager

After graduating high school in Florida, Jessie moved to the area to be closer to family. She joined the veterinary field in 2008 as a kennel assistant and advanced to veterinary technician assistant to office manager. Jessie was the first employee of Rocket City Veterinary Services in 2018. Her interests in veterinary medicine are anesthesia, surgery, and dentistry.

When she is not working, you can find her snuggled up on the couch with her Bernedoodle, Kion, binge watching K-dramas. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, Patrick, and her son, Jensen.

Jackie Harris

Co-Lead Veterinary Assistant

Jackie has been in the veterinary field since 2011 and has spent most of her career as a veterinary assistant. Since joining Rocket City Veterinary Services, she has taken on the role as lead clinic technician assistant. 

Growing up, Jackie always had a passion for making a difference in the lives of animals and the people who love them! Her interests include educating clients, dentistry, and working with exotics. 

Jackie and her fiancée, Cheyenne, have 5 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 bearded dragons. In her free time, she enjoys playing basketball, fishing, and watching Auburn football.  

Elizabeth Nagy, LVT

Licensed Veterinary Technician/Co-Lead 

Elizabeth has been in the veterinary field since 2004. She was born and raised in Michigan, but moved to Alabama in 2007, and then to Kansas in 2009.

While living in Kansas she obtained her Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology and in 2012 she moved back to Alabama where she completed the requirements to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician.

She shares her home with her fiancé, 2 dogs, 2 frogs and numerous fish. In her spare time she enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, and in the summer she can often be found out on the river boating or kayaking.

Cheyenne Pitts

Co-Lead Receptionist

Cheyenne has been in the veterinary field since 2017.  She has spent most of her career as a veterinary assistant but as moved into the role of lead receptionist at Rocket City Veterinary Services. 

Cheyenne is also currently pursuing a nursing degree and aspires to be a Nurse Practitioner.

Cheyenne’s interests include getting her lashes and nails done, watching reality tv, and spending time with her family; including her fiancée, Jackie, and their 5 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 bearded dragons.

Sakeya Ford

Co-Lead Receptionist

Sakeya joined Rocket City Veterinary Services in April 2021 with no previous experience but as excelled over the last year and a half in her role as receptionist and mobile scheduler.

Sakaya is married and has 2 beautiful children. Their family has a spoiled Dalmatian named Yoda.

In Sakeya’s free time, she enjoys reading, making tik-tok videos, playing video games, binging tv shows, cooking, going to the movies, and spending time with my family.

Sakeya is happy to be a part of our team because veterinary medicine is a field that she always wanted to pursue due to her love of animals.

Alissia Nowicki

Receptionist

Alissia joined the Rocket City team in August 2022 with no prior experience in the veterinary field but has always had a love for animals. She was raised in Washington state but has lived all over the country as a military wife.

She has been married for 18 years and has 3 children. Her family also includes 2 dogs, Kora and Shelby, and 2 cats, Eli and Kal.

Alissia loves to travel; especially to Hawaii and Disney, going to the movies, or watching anything on BRAVO.

She is very excited to be in this field and plans to remain in veterinary medicine forever. Alissia said after being a stay-at-home mom for 13 years, she has finally found something that brings a new joy to her life.

Megan Mitchell

Receptionist

Megan joined Rocket City in August of 2023 with no previous veterinary experience but learned very quickly! Megan was born and raised in Dothan, AL. She moved to Huntsville in 2011.

Megan is an avid animal lover and always wanted to work with animals.

She currently lives with her boyfriend and they have 3 dogs (Abby, Raven, and Parker), 2 cats (Jasper and Luna), a bearded dragon (Sandy), and a guinea pig named Yeety.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and her animals, watching reality tv shows & true crime documentaries, and reading thriller books. Her favorite things in this world include going to the beach and to Disney!

Hailey Holt

Receptionist

Hailey started working at Rocket City in August of 2023 with no prior experience as a receptionist or the veterinary field, but was excited to help with the care of animals.

She has lived in Huntsville for her whole life and has always enjoyed spending time with animals and caring for them.

Hailey lives with her parents, sister, and her German Shepard (Jasper), and two cats (Jules & Beanie).

In her off time, Hailey enjoys playing video games, reading fantasy novels, and going thrifting with her friends.

Christine Schlicker

Receptionist

Christine has been in the veterinary field since 2022. She was born and raised in a small town in Washington state. She originally went into the dental field but after college, she moved to Florida, where she was explored the veterinary field, fell in love, and has been in it since.

She has three dogs. Her first fur baby is Whiskey, a Belgian Malinois, Bravo, also a Belgian Malinois, and last, her youngest is Fosse, a Doberman Pinscher.

When she is not devoting all her time to work and her fur children, she is in the gym, powerlifting and practicing her line dancing. She also enjoys drawing realism art, hunting, fishing, off-roading, and anything that involves being out in the world!

Adam Carter

Veterinary Assistant

Adam joined Rocket City Veterinary Services in March of 2022 but has been in the veterinary field since 2016. Adam grew up in Jupiter, Florida and moved to Huntsville, Alabama in 2007.

He has a variety of exotics, two dogs (Pepper and Sasha), and three cats (Garnet, Maurice, and Eleanor). His hobbies include hiking and playing the piano. His passion at work is emergency and critical care, and client education.

Courtney Arnold

Veterinary Assistant

Courtney has been in the veterinary field since the beginning of 2020, and started out as a veterinary receptionist. Courtney was raised in a small town in California, and moved to San Diego, where she started her career in veterinary medicine.

She currently has 2 dogs, which are both rescues, Timber (a coonhound) and Fiji (a coonhound mix), 1 cat named Macchiato, and Raindrop, a bearded dragon.

In her free time, she loves to read and bake. Her favorite thing to do is spend time with her husband, Chris, and her son, Ryder, and her daughter, Evie.

Brittany Rivera

Veterinary Assistant

Brittany joined Rocket City Veterinary Services in November of 2021. Brittany has been working as a veterinary assistant for 6 years. Brittany is currently studying to get her bachelor’s degree in biology and then plans to go to veterinary school and become a veterinarian.

Brittany has 2 spoiled dogs at home. In addition to spoiling her fur-babies, she loves going to Disney every year and LOVES Stitch. She is saving up for her own farm where she can get even more animals to love!

Antria Smith

Veterinary Assistant

Antria joined Rocket City Veterinary Services in January of 2023. She has been working in the veterinary field for 3 years now. She started off as a kennel assistant and then after a year, moved up to becoming a veterinary assistant. When Antria first started in this field she had a strong fear of cats and snakes, but now she is more comfortable handling cats and has a deep love for snakes.

Working in the veterinary field has helped her conquer her fears and face new challenges. Antria has a very spoiled dog at home named Fluffy. He was a rescue that she acquired within the last year. He was in a poor health condition when she got him, but with lots of love and hospital care she nursed him back to full health. In addition to spoiling her fur-baby, she loves watching K-Dramas, reading romance novels, baking, and working out.

Jordan Anderson

Veterinary Assistant

Jordan has been in the veterinary field since early 2019 and has been a veterinary assistant and veterinary receptionist. She is currently studying veterinary technology at Jefferson State to receive her LVT certification.

She is a military child and has moved around her whole life.

She has had a love for animals since she was a little girl, and has spent her free time volunteering at animal shelters in the area. She has always had a fur baby at her side, and currently has a pug named Fifi. Jordan also has a sweet little boy named Oliver.

Amanda Alaffa

Veterinary Assistant

Amanda joined the veterinary field at Rocket City in 2022.  Amanda is passionate about providing the best care for the clients and their pets. She loves educating clients about new products and best practices.

Growing up, Amanda always had an interest in animals and knew that she wanted to do something with animals as an adult. While in the Army National Guard, Amanda loved working along with the military police K9 units.

Amanda has 3 little girls with her husband and she loves spending her free time watching them laugh and learn. She has 4 dogs and 3 cat fur babies along with 2 bearded dragons.

Izzy Fernandez 

Veterinary Assistant

Izzy grew up in a small town of Sealy, Texas, where she had horses, many dogs, and spent her days barrel racing on a Paso Fino ranch. When she was older, she became a competitive cheerleader. Cheerleading lead her to move to south Florida where she earned a scholarship at Nova Southeastern University where she studied Marine Biology.

During college, she worked at a boarding facility, which caused her to miss working with animals. She took an opportunity in Seattle where she managed a boarding facility for a year before going back to Florida. In Florida, she pursued a career with animals at a veterinary hospital while still cheering at Keiser University.

She suffered a major cheerleading injury that led to her fully focusing on her career as a veterinary technician.  Izzy worked at a large practice in Florida that treated many rescue animals.

During this time, she met her fiancé and ended up moving to Alabama after he took a job. While in Huntsville, Izzy worked for a high volume spay and neuter clinic before joining us at Rocket City Veterinary Services.

Izzy love spending spare time with her fiancé, two wild boys, her dog Luke, and cat Mamba. Also, she occasionally coaches cheerleading.

Cassie Bunn

Veterinary Assistant

Cassie has been working in the veterinary field since 2006, most of which has been in specialty medicine, and has a special interest in surgery and critical care.  She is currently pursuing a degree in veterinary technology through Jefferson State Community College with the goal of obtaining her license in veterinary technology.

Cassie was born in Florida, but raised in Oklahoma, and has moved a lot with her family before finding the Madison area to be her home. On her free time, she enjoys Church activities, reading, spending time with family, and painting.

Cassie has a Ragdoll mix named Timothy, and a Sheltie mix named Kiara. She considers herself a “cat person,” though also has a love and passion for dogs and exotic animals.

Anaya Chambers

Veterinary Assistant

Anaya is a junior at the University of Alabama in Huntsville studying Biology with the hopes of going on to veterinary school. She hopes to eventually specialize in treating domestic animals, farm life, and exotics; for now, she’s working as a technician’s assistant.

Anaya has always dreamed of being in the field of veterinary medicine, and she has gladly found her start here at Rocket City Veterinary Hospital. Anaya currently has three furry friends at home that she calls her babies; Apollo (Schnauzer Mix), Bessie (King Charles Spaniel), and Lil Girl (Short-tailed Chinchilla).

In her free time, she enjoys painting, drawing, spending time with all of her fur babies, and hanging out with her friends and family. 

Gabby Wilson

Veterinary Assistant

Gabby is currently enrolled at the University of Alabama in Huntsville studying Biology with hopes of getting into veterinary school.

Gabby has wanted to become a veterinarian since a little girl and started working towards that dream by starting internships at vet clinics in 2020. She joined the staff at Rocket City in June of 2022.

Gabby has two cats at home: Flash a fat orange cat with asthma and Cinza an American Bob tail. Gabby has played the piano since kindergarten, but also loves running, spending time with her friends, family, and cats.

Bre Fielder

Veterinary Assistant

Bre started in the veterinary field in April 2023 and has loved it ever since. Bre has some background in dog training; specifically behavior modification and service work.

Bre has 6 dogs: Louis, Brighton, Bonnie, Bolt, Ranger, and Everest, and has a bearded dragon named Mango Mae.

Outside of helping save lives, Bre love photography, figure skating and traveling to Disney World. She also loves to ride her bike on the greenway with her dogs!

As someone with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and Ehlers Danlos Syndome (EDS), Bre has a cardiac alert and mobility service dog named, Louis. Despite her health issues, Bre is determined to do what she loves and help save animals.

Kahylin Nesbitt

Veterinary Assistant

Kahylin Nesbitt is an aspiring veterinarian and recently got into Auburn’s College of Veterinary Medicine!

She is a 2023 graduate of Oakwood University with a B.S. in Biology, a concentration in veterinary medicine, and a minor in art. She is also a first author on a research publication and will soon be starting veterinary school.

In her free time she likes to spend time with friends and family, play city league soccer, draw, and watch movies. At the end of the day she comes home to her family Dog, Thanos (a pitbull and husky mix), whom she loves dearly.

Ashya Reid

Veterinary Assistant

Ashya has only been in the veterinary field since 2022, but previously cared for farm animals.

She is a graduate of Alabama A&M University majoring in Animal Bio-Health Sciences, and currently pursuing further education. Ashya is from Georgia, but opportunities brought her here to Huntsville.

She grew up with cats and dogs, but developed a love for exotics. She now shares her life with her ball python (Coffee), red tail boa (Augustus), Carabena Versicolor Tarantula (Sasori), Sun Fire hamster (Starfire), and a few fish.

A few hobbies of Ash’s include being a plant mom, hiking, and especially trying new foods.

Brian Weis

Veterinary Assistant

Brian began working in the veterinary field in 2017 in the Dominican Republic and he joined Rocket City in November of 2023.  He received his MBA from Hodges University.

After working in the veterinary field, he quickly realized he wanted to work with animals as they are his passion and happiness and is looking to add a veterinary technician degree to his repertoire.

Brian enjoys playing his guitar, tennis, swimming, horseback riding and spending time with his nephew Brantley and niece Delaney.

His favorite breed of dog is a poodle, all sizes.  He has two miniature poodles Leona and Marley.

Chase Harrison

Veterinary Assistant

Chase recently joined our team after moving to the area from Mississippi with his partner. Previously, Chase worked at a veterinary hospital in Mississippi. Chase came to the area to continue his career in veterinary medicine.

Chase is passionate about the field and continues to grow daily and he can’t wait to grow in his roles and become a veterinary technician.

Chase has two cats and a dog! He loves spending his free time training and doing agility courses with his dog! We are excited to have Chase a member of our team!
